Bullmastiffs are even-tempered and restrained, and they should be obedience trained. Socialization is an absolutely necessary condition, because deviant behavior is penalized. This is not a backyard dog, and if you apply such a method of upbringing, you may spoil your pet indelibly.

Bullmastiffs were produced by crossbreeding of Bulldogs with Mastiffs. They are strong, agile and powerful dogs, which possess a very high level of intelligence and watchfulness. They love human company, and are very good with children, although it is not recommended to leave them around children without supervision.
