Bull Mastiff Kennel

Prior to choosing a Bull Mastiff kennel, you have to make sure that the breed is right for you. Like all large and powerful dogs, Bull Mastiffs need experienced and firm owners who can socialize, housebreak, and train the dog properly and avoid dominance and other behavior problems. It’s not enough to read a breed overview on the Internet. You have to see these dogs in dog shows and talk to their breeders or happy Bull Mastiff owners to learn everything possible about the advantages and disadvantages of the breed.

There are no ideal dogs for everyone. In any Bull Mastiff kennel, you will find out that puppies from one litter may differ much both in temperament and appearance. You have to know what you need a dog for to choose the most suited puppy. Purebred Bull Mastiffs are very massive; they take up a lot of space and need much food. When young, these dogs are exuberant and playful, which may be dangerous, because Bull Mastiff puppies are very large and strong. A bored dog of this breed can be very destructive. Bull Mastiffs tend to snore, grunt, slobber, and drool. They shed much if not given regular grooming.

Bull Mastiffs were developed as gamekeeper’s dogs. They are very protective and alert, but not aggressive to humans and dogs. A dog of this breed is not good as a companion for sport. It’s very calm and needs moderate exercise. Intelligent and self-assured, these dogs respond only to positive methods of training. Very few people have skills necessary to manage a dog of this breed, even if they had a dog ownership experience.

In some areas, Bull Mastiffs and other large dogs are banned. These dogs look intimidating and your neighbors may feel uncomfortable around such a powerful creature. If a large and strong dog does anything questionable, the owner is likely to have more problems than the owner of a small-sized dog. If you buy a Bull Mastiff from a backyard breeder or puppy mill, there is no guarantee that it will be reliable and easy to control. A Bull Mastiff kennel should be chosen very carefully, because the health, working abilities, and personality of the dog depend much on the breeder.
